5 AI Email Clients Compared for 2026: Prices and Features

Most comparison pages for AI email are out of date the week they publish, because pricing tiers and AI features move monthly. This one is built differently. Each row below links to the page it was checked against, with the date. Where a vendor documents a feature, it gets credit for it, even when that vendor competes with us. Where we could not find a feature on the vendor's public pages, the cell says so instead of showing an X.

The five tools: Slashy, Superhuman Mail, Shortwave, Fyxer, and Gmail with Gemini through Google Workspace. Notion Mail was left out because its product page now redirects to Notion's main site and we could not verify current pricing.

What is the best AI email client in 2026?

It depends on what you are paying for. Every tool here writes drafts that sound like you and reminds you to follow up. The real differences are four things: which email providers it supports, whether the advanced AI is in the base plan or a higher tier, whether it is a full client or a layer on top of Gmail, and how far outside the inbox it reaches.

Superhuman supports Gmail and Outlook, and puts Ask AI, auto drafts, custom auto labels, MCP and CRM integrations on its Business tier. Shortwave is Gmail only and scales AI usage across three tiers from $30 to $120 per seat. Fyxer works on Gmail and Outlook as an assistant layer rather than a client. Gmail with Gemini is the cheapest and the most generic. Slashy is Gmail and Google Workspace only, ships one plan with everything in it, and is the only tool in the table you can run from iMessage or Slack.

Which AI email client drafts replies in your tone?

All five do some version of it, so the question is what the draft is built from. Superhuman states that its AI "matches the voice and tone in the emails you've already sent." Shortwave lists personalized AI writing on every tier. Fyxer's pricing page says it drafts replies in your voice. Gemini's Help me write is prompt-based and does not learn from your sent mail.

Slashy's drafts use your sent history, the full thread, and whatever else is connected: your CRM record for the sender, your last Granola notes with them, your saved memories about the relationship. On Slashy's own usage data, the share of AI drafts a new user sends without editing starts near 30% on day one and passes 80% by day 30. That curve is the thing to test during any trial. Send the drafts, count how many you had to rewrite, and watch whether the number falls.

What are the best alternatives to Superhuman?

Superhuman remains a strong product. It supports both Gmail and Outlook, it has read statuses down to the device, and its Business tier includes Ask AI, auto drafts, custom auto labels, MCP and CRM integrations. If your team is on Outlook, it is the only full client in this table that works for you today.

The alternatives make sense in three situations. You want the advanced AI in the base plan rather than a tier up. You want to control email from outside the inbox, through iMessage, Slack or an agent you already run. Or you want an assistant on top of the inbox you have rather than a new client.

Shortwave is the closest like-for-like for Gmail users who want deep AI search history and team features, with AI usage that scales by tier. Fyxer is the pick if you want triage and drafts without leaving Gmail or Outlook. How much does an AI email client cost in 2026?

Between $7 and $120 per user per month, depending on how much AI you want and how you pay.

• Gmail with Gemini: Google Workspace Business Starter from $7 per user per month on an annual plan, with Gemini included.
• Slashy: $30 per user per month, or $25 per month on the $300 annual plan. One tier, everything included.
• Superhuman Mail: Starter $25 and Business $33 per member per month, both billed annually. Ask AI, auto drafts, MCP and CRM integrations sit on Business.
• Shortwave: Business $30, Premier $45, Max $120 per seat per month. The tiers buy more AI usage, longer search history and more AI filters.
• Fyxer: Starter $30 monthly or $22.50 annual, Pro $50 monthly or $37.50 annual.

The number that matters is the price of the tier that has the features you will actually use. For Superhuman that is Business if you want Ask AI or personalization. For Shortwave it is Premier if you want unlimited AI search history. For Slashy there is one tier.

Is AI email secure, and does it train on my data?

Check three things: certifications, encryption, and the AI-training clause. Slashy is SOC 2 Type II certified and CASA Tier 2, encrypts with AES-256 at rest and TLS in transit, and does not use your emails to train AI models. Superhuman states that it contractually prohibits its AI providers from training on your data and does not log AI responses. Shortwave lists CASA Tier 2 on its pricing page. Fyxer's pricing page does not state its certifications, so ask before you buy. Google Workspace carries Google's compliance program.
