TL;DR

Superhuman Mail is $30 per member per month ($25 billed annually) on Starter and $40 ($33 annually) on Business, the tier that carries its most advanced AI. The five alternatives worth a look are Slashy, Shortwave, Spark, Front and Fyxer. The right one depends on whether you are on Gmail or Outlook, whether you want a full client or a layer on the inbox you have, and how much of the AI you want in the base plan.

Superhuman Alternatives in 2026: 5 AI Email Clients Compared

Superhuman is a good product, and this page treats it that way. Every claim about it below links to a Superhuman page with the date we read it, and Superhuman gets credit for everything it documents. Where we could not find something on its public pages, the text says "not documented" rather than implying it is missing. Prices for every tool were read from the vendor's own pricing page in a browser on September 16, 2026, and monthly and annual billing are listed separately, because that is the number people get wrong most often.

Why look for a Superhuman alternative?

Four reasons come up on our onboarding calls, and none of them is that Superhuman is bad at email.

The first is where the AI sits in the price list. On Superhuman's pricing page (checked September 16, 2026), Starter includes "Superhuman AI", and Business adds "Our most advanced AI", auto drafts, Ask AI, Superhuman Mail MCP, custom auto labels and CRM integrations. If those are the features you want, the relevant price is $40 monthly or $33 annually, not the Starter number.

The second is provider. Superhuman supports Gmail and Outlook. Some of the alternatives below only support Gmail, and one supports almost everything. That single fact removes options before any feature comparison starts.

The third is reach outside the inbox. Some people want to run email from a phone thread, a Slack channel or an AI agent they already use, and want the client to remember context across all of them.

The fourth is habit. On a May 2026 call, a customer trialing Slashy side by side with Superhuman told us the muscle memory they had built in Superhuman made switching slow, and they planned to keep using both for a while. That is a real cost of leaving, and it favors Superhuman. Any alternative has to be worth relearning a few keystrokes.

What are the best alternatives to Superhuman?

The five below cover the realistic paths: a Gmail-native AI client with memory (Slashy), a Gmail-native client built around AI search (Shortwave), a multi-provider client with a free plan (Spark), a shared team inbox (Front), and an assistant layer on the inbox you already have (Fyxer).

How do Superhuman alternatives compare on price?

Per user, USD, as displayed on each vendor's pricing page on September 16, 2026.

ToolMonthly billingAnnual billing (monthly equivalent)Free plan or trial
Superhuman Mail Starter$30$25No free plan; "Claim free month" offer on its product pages
Superhuman Mail Business$40$33No free plan; "Claim free month" offer on its product pages
Slashy Professional$30$25 ($300 per year)7-day trial, card required
Shortwave Pro$18Not shownFree plan
Shortwave Business$30Not shown14-day trial
Spark Plus$10$8.25 ($99 per year)Free plan
Spark Pro$20$16.58 ($199 per year)Free plan
Front StarterNot shown$25 per seat, up to 10 seatsFree trial
Fyxer Starter$30$22.507-day trial
Fyxer Professional$50$37.507-day trial

Two things stand out. On annual billing, Superhuman Starter and Slashy land at the same $25, so at that price the question is what the plan includes rather than the sticker. And the cheapest full clients (Spark, Shortwave Pro) are cheap because they leave more of the work to you; Spark's pricing page lists auto-drafts and auto-labels as "soon" rather than shipped.

An inbox that understands the next step

Slashy uses the context in your email and calendar to draft, schedule, remember, and follow through.

Which Superhuman alternative drafts in your voice and remembers context?

Superhuman does this, and the comparison has to start there. Its Personalization help article (checked September 16, 2026) says the AI adapts to your voice and tone automatically and describes settings for writing style, greeting, scheduling, an About me section and a connected Knowledge Base, and its Mail AI page says the AI matches the voice and tone of the emails you have already sent. Ask AI, auto drafts and custom auto labels are listed on the Business tier of its pricing page.

The alternatives differ on what the draft is built from and where the memory lives.

Slashy learns your voice from the mail you send and grounds each draft in the full thread, the CRM record for the sender, and the meeting notes and saved memories attached to that relationship. The memory system is the architecture, not a setting. On Slashy's own usage data, the share of AI drafts a new user sends without editing starts near 30% on day one and passes 80% by day 30, and that curve is the thing to measure during any trial.

"I was spending more time orchestrating AI than actually replying. Now I approve more than I compose. It just reads my mind."

Michelle, The Prompting Company

Shortwave lists personalized AI writing and an AI memory you can ask to remember facts and preferences, with AI usage that scales by tier. Fyxer's pricing page says it drafts replies in your voice and, on Professional, lets you upload files to train it. Spark has an AI writing assistant on paid plans, with auto-drafts marked as coming. Front's AI is built for support teams: its pricing page puts AI Copilot on Enterprise and sells AI add-ons on the lower tiers.

Which alternative works with Outlook?

This is the question to answer first, and it is where Superhuman is strongest. Superhuman Mail supports Gmail and Outlook. Among the alternatives, Spark supports Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Exchange, Yahoo and IMAP, Fyxer sits on Gmail or Outlook, and Front connects Gmail and Office 365 mailboxes as shared inboxes. Slashy and Shortwave are Gmail and Google Workspace only.

If your company runs Microsoft 365, the honest shortlist is Superhuman Mail, Spark, Front or Fyxer, and Slashy is not an option today. If you are on Google Workspace, all five alternatives apply.

Which alternative is best for a team?

Superhuman lists team collaboration on all of its plans, so a small team does not need to leave it to share threads. The alternatives split by what "team" means.

Front is the pick when the team works a single queue: shared inboxes, ticketing, up to 10 automation rules on Starter and omnichannel support on Professional. It is a support platform first and a personal email client second. Slashy covers the founder and operator version of a team: shared inboxes, comments and mentions, team read receipts, and a calendar sidebar with a multi-person view, on the one plan. Shortwave adds thread sharing, comments, assignees and team read statuses on its Business tiers. Fyxer's Professional plan handles multiple inboxes for one person rather than a shared queue. Spark has essential team collaboration on Plus and advanced on Pro.

What to choose if...

  • You are on Outlook: Superhuman Mail, Spark, Front or Fyxer. Slashy and Shortwave are Gmail only.
  • You want the advanced AI without a tier upgrade: Slashy, which ships one plan.
  • You want a free plan: Shortwave Free or Spark Free.
  • You want the deepest AI search across years of Gmail: Shortwave Premier or Max.
  • Your team works one support queue: Front.
  • You want AI drafts without changing your inbox: Fyxer.
  • You want to run email from iMessage, Slack or your own AI agent: Slashy, which includes an MCP server and messaging control on the single plan.
  • You already know Superhuman's shortcuts and want the Business AI: stay, and budget $33 annually or $40 monthly per member.
