Superhuman Review 2026: Is It Still Worth It?

We build Slashy, an AI email client that competes with Superhuman for some of the same buyers, so read this with that in mind. To keep it fair, every claim about Superhuman below comes from Superhuman's own pricing, product and help pages, read in a browser on the dates stated and linked inline. Superhuman gets credit for everything it documents. Where we could not find something on its public pages, the text says "not documented" rather than implying it is missing, and where Slashy does something differently we say so plainly.

What is Superhuman Mail?

Superhuman is the email client that made speed the whole pitch. Its Mail page (checked September 22, 2026) pitches it as "the most productive email app ever made," claims it saves four hours per person per week, and says it is "built for teams that use Gmail or Outlook." The product is a full client, not a layer on Gmail: its own desktop and mobile apps, its own keyboard shortcuts, and a command palette (Cmd+K) that runs most actions.

Per its Managing Accounts help article, you can add as many Gmail or Outlook accounts as you like, and it supports Gmail and Microsoft 365 hosted accounts only. That is a real strength. Most AI email clients are Gmail-first, including ours: Slashy is built on Gmail and Google Workspace, and its Outlook.com and Microsoft 365 support is in a limited web beta.

What does Superhuman do well?

Speed and keyboard flow. This is the thing Superhuman is known for. Its shortcuts become muscle memory, and that is a real point in its favor: any competitor has to be worth relearning a few keystrokes.

Triage that is built in. The Mail page describes Split Inbox, which separates email from your team, your VIPs or your tools into their own views. The Mail AI page (checked September 22, 2026) adds Auto Labels that separate marketing, cold pitches and social updates, custom labels you create from a short prompt, tabs built from those labels, and Auto Archive that clears the low-priority mail for good.

Drafts that sound like you. The same page says Superhuman AI "matches the voice and tone in the emails you've already sent," describes Instant Reply (a draft waiting on every email so you edit and send), and Write with Voice on mobile. Its Personalization article (checked September 22, 2026) says the AI adapts to your voice automatically and, on Business and Enterprise, adds settings for writing style, greeting and sign-off, scheduling preferences, an About me section and a connected Knowledge Base.

Follow-ups and read status. The Mail page describes the follow-up flow: pick a time when you send, and if there is no reply by then, Superhuman reminds you, and the AI page says it will draft the follow-up too. Read statuses show when each person opened your email and on which device, per its Read Statuses help article (checked September 22, 2026), and Business and Enterprise add a real-time Recent Opens feed.

Ask AI and scheduling. Ask AI answers questions across your inbox, calendar and the web ("where's the offsite," "reply with 3 coffee spots near the office," per the AI page), and Instant Event creates a calendar event from an email with one tap.

Team collaboration on every plan. The pricing page (checked September 22, 2026) lists team collaboration, calendar and scheduling, and unified admin and billing on Starter, so a small team does not need a higher tier to share and comment on threads.

What does Superhuman cost?

From superhuman.com/mail/pricing, checked September 22, 2026, per member per month:

There is no free plan. The pricing page does not state trial terms, but Superhuman's product pages carry a "Claim free month" offer (checked September 22, 2026), so the practical entry point is a free month rather than a shorter trial.

The number to notice is where the AI sits. Starter lists "Superhuman AI" without breaking down which features that covers. Auto drafts, Ask AI, custom auto labels, MCP and CRM integrations, plus the personalization settings and Knowledge Base, are listed on Business. If those are the features you are buying Superhuman for, the relevant price is $40 monthly or $33 annually, not $25.

Where should you look closer?

These are not flaws; they are the questions to answer during the free month.

Which tier has your features? Write down the three things you want the AI to do, then check them against the pricing page's Starter and Business columns before you commit to a price.

Multiple accounts and unified inbox. Superhuman handles multiple Gmail and Outlook accounts, but its Unified Inbox Workaround help article states that Superhuman Mail does not have a unified inbox feature and offers tabs per account with keyboard switching as the workaround. If you live across three inboxes and want one view, test the tab flow first.

Where the memory lives. Superhuman's AI matches your voice automatically, uses your past conversations with a contact for context, and on Business adds personalization settings plus a Knowledge Base you connect. Slashy's approach is a persistent memory system inside the client that remembers your contacts, tone, past threads and preferences across sessions, on its single plan. On Slashy's own usage data, the share of AI drafts a new user sends without editing starts near 30% on day one and passes 80% by day 30. Run the same measurement during Superhuman's free month and compare.

Reach outside the inbox. Superhuman's AI page describes Ask AI reaching your inbox, calendar and the web, and Business adds an MCP server. If you want to run email from iMessage, Slack or your own AI agent, check what the MCP exposes; Slashy includes an MCP server and iMessage and Slack control on its single plan.

Is Superhuman still worth it in 2026?

Yes, for a clear set of people: anyone on Outlook who wants a fast, polished client with real AI; anyone who already knows Superhuman's shortcuts and values speed above everything; and small teams that want sharing and comments on the base plan. At $25 annually on Starter, it is priced the same as Slashy and below Shortwave Premier, and its Microsoft 365 support is generally available, where ours is still in a limited web beta.

It is a harder sell if the features you want are on Business ($33 to $40), or if you want one unified inbox across accounts. On Google Workspace, Slashy puts memory, drafts, triage, follow-ups, calendar sidebar and messaging control on one $25 to $30 plan; on Outlook today, Superhuman remains one of the strongest choices available.

• You want speed and know the shortcuts: stay on Superhuman; budget for Business if you want Ask AI and personalization.
